Business Intelligence Analyst

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst that can pull out the science behind the art of content creation/social media management, and turn it into insightful recommendations that drive action for the business and value back to the 100M+ fans that follow us. Apply to work at our office in downtown London, On.

The Team

What does Business Intelligence mean at Diply? It means turning art into science, and science into action. This is achieved by working closely with various teams in the business to:


1) Observe and understand the craft of content creation and the nuances of social media management,

2) Pull out the science behind these processes that drives business success,

3) Present insights back to the business that drive action. 

The purpose of the business Intelligence team is to serve the rest of the business by providing actionable insights in a humble, respectful, and extremely professional manner.

About The Role

  • Get involved in the day to day of the various teams in the business to fully understand their complex intelligence needs.

  • Identify patterns, trends, and key business drivers within the data.
  • Succinctly summarize how our business and its teams are tracking towards their goals, define the underlying drivers for discrepancies between actuals and goals, and recommend options for correcting them.

Regular Reporting/Tools:

Work closely with the development team to:

  • Produce reliable, accurate reports for a wide variety of business purposes.

  • Create and maintain data-heavy processes, update them to make them more efficient.

  • Accurately estimate effort on building new reports, dashboards, and tools, and hold yourself accountable to those estimates.


Hypothesis Testing and Analysis

  • Efficiently design, setup, run, and conclude tests for hypothesis’ developed by teams within the business using best practices of statistics and data science.

  • Re-actively research and analyze anomalies, market shifts, and industry disruptions.

  • Provide succinct, summarized results for both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

  • You must be committed to building a long term career in business intelligence and or social media industry, and willing to grow with our team and our business.

  • Your ability to communicate and connect with others effectively is essential, in both verbal and written formats, and in both technical and non-technical terms.
  • You are curious, self-motivated and can adapt to work productively on multiple projects with minimal direction or guidelines.

  • You are an organized individual, labeling, structuring thoughts, work, files neatly and considerately for the entire team.

  • Your ability to learn quickly is paramount. Our market and industry changes quickly, and so does the data, tactics, and tools of our trade.

The Skills/Experience Needed

  • Degree in Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Business or equivalent; outstanding post-secondary academic performance.

  • Basic knowledge of SQL query syntax (selects, filters, joins), and the ability to design, code, test, and aggregate SQL queries on the databases.

  • Advanced knowledge and skill sets in google sheets (vlookup, index, match, filter, query, text manipulation, regex, pivot tables, conditional formatting).

  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, and scorecards using SQL Reporting Services and in google sheets.

  • Experience designing, setting up, running, and concluding tests.

  • Experience working with large sets of data and pulling insights from them.


Nice to have already, or you will need to learn on the job

  • Understanding of relational data modeling.

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL query syntax (windows, sub-queries, common table expressions).

  • Knowledge of SQL database queries, structure and performance (normalization, index’s, stored procedures, query optimization).

  • Awareness and experience with other database paradigms (document store, graph, search).

  • Experience working with social media and paid media concepts and  data.

  • Experience working with supply-side ad network concepts and data.
